Welcome to Schenectady’s Stockade Neighborhood…New York State’s first Historic District

We hope you will visit us and tour our unique  collection of 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th century homes, businesses and churches.

Please join us  for this year’s  57th Historic Stockade Walkabout house tour on September 28th, 11am to 5pm. This fall house tour in Schenectady’s Stockade provides a unique chance to step inside some of the homes in this historic neighborhood.   The Walkabout will feature music and costumed characters, new exhibits at the Schenectady County Historical Society, and exhibits by SUNY SCCC Community Archaeology program on artifacts left behind by early residents. New York State’s first Historic District invites all to visit this unique urban neighborhood featuring more than 40 pre-Revolutionary houses and architectural styles that include Dutch Colonial, Georgian, Federal and Victorian. September also features the annual Stockade Art Show  creating a pedestrian gallery up and down  our”village’s” streets.
