Welcome to Schenectady’s Stockade Neighborhood…New York State’s first Historic District

 We hope you will visit us and tour our unique  collection of 17th, 18th, 19th and early 20th century homes, businesses and churches. You can download an audiotour map  or join us for the annual Walkabout in September, which provides the opportunity to see the Stockade’s historic architecture both inside and out. September also features the annual Stockade Villagers Art Show creating a pedestrian gallery up and down  our”village’s” streets.

The 55th Stockade Walkabout, is Saturday September 26, 2015 11am to 5pm.  New York State’s first Historic District invites all to visit this unique urban neighborhood featuring more than 40 pre-Revolutionary houses and architectural styles that include Dutch Colonial, Georgian, Federal and Victorian.Tour seven private homes
dating from 1792 to a “newer” home built in 1900.  The Walkabout offers visitors entertainment, and new exhibits at Schenectady County Historical Society, and a look at interiors of neighborhood churches.  As part of the walk, visitors can enjoy a Fall view of gardens and other ever changing vistas in this regional treasure on the Mohawk River, called The Stockade. Click here for information on purchasing tickets online or where to purchase in the community.
