Streetscape Project Kickoff Neighborhood Tour

Kick Off Event Set for October 10

The Planning4Places consultant team was introduced at the Stockade Association’s September General Meeting on September 20. Planning4Places consultants Katherine Ember and James Levy introduced themselves and gave an overview of what the plan will cover and how it will proceed in the coming months. Those present were invited to sign up for one of four one-hour walking tours of a section of the Stockade.

The next step in the planning process is a Kick Off Event on October 10. The walking tours will begin at 5:30 p.m. that evening starting at St. George’s great hall. Each of four groups will tour a specific section of the Stockade and participants will have an opportunity to share with the tour leader what they like and dislike in the way of sidewalks, trees and traffic. Everyone will return to St. George’s at 6:30 and the group as a whole will review and discuss what was learned from the tours. Matt Ingalls from Ingalls Planning & Design and Liz McKinley from Davey Research Group as well as Ms. Ember and Mr. Levy will serve as tour leaders and facilitators.

If you missed the Tour it’s not too late  you can still share your ideas!

A map and tour audit forms are at the Indian in the container where we leave current issues of the Spy.  Use one form per block. Please take one form and one map. You will need to make extra copies of the form for each block on the tour. We hope to have digital versions posted online soon, but in the meantime, help yourself to the paper copies at the Indian.  Use the map to determine which tour you wish to take. Complete the forms and return to Suzy Unger at 216 1/2 Union Street by October 31. Keep checking this website for updated information. Contact Suzy Unger at suzanne.unger@gmail.com if you have any questions about the audit forms or anything related to the streetscape project. Or just fill it our online here: Online Walk Audit Form

The Planning4Places team will use residents’ comments and ideas to develop the plan that will ultimately be presented to Stockaders next Spring. If you have not had the opportunity to sign up for one of the October 10 tours, contact Suzy Unger to reserve a spot. Those who cannot attend the October 10 meeting are invited to take a self-guided tour at their convenience and complete the form others will be completing during the tours. Residents will be able to download the streetscape audit form after October 10.
